Grand Bahama Island is the northernmost island in the chain that makes up the Bahamas. It is over five hundred square miles and is home to some of the most scenic spots on the planet. Whether it is white sandy beaches or vibrant rainforest, Grand Bahama Island has it all.  With attractions like casinos, go karts, and caverns; the island has no lack of things to do even if you’re interested in an assortment of them. To get to Grand Bahama Island there are a variety of options. You can fly, take a chartered boat, or take a cruise. The cruise tends to be the most popular method of transportation because it’s cost effective and the views from the ship are spectacular. There are many different options to take including day ferries for people who don’t have time to spend the night on Grand Bahama Island.

Day Ferry

The Bahamas day ferry is one of the most widely used methods of getting to Grand Bahama Island. The ferry is a cost effective way to experience Freeport, Grand Bahama Island because it doesn’t include extra fees for food or accommodation, just the base cost of transportation. A day ferry is also perfect for anyone on a time crunch. You can take the ferry to the Bahamas and back within a day. The boat is a high speed ferry, so it only takes about two and a half hours to get from Miami to Freeport. It makes travelling to the Bahamas both a quick and enjoyable experience. Aboard the ship you’ll see schools of colorful fish, dolphins, coral reefs, and a ton of different species of seabird. It’s definitely a more scenic way to travel than flying.

Two Night Cruise

The two night cruise is a great way to take a nice little vacation without spending a bunch of money. The cruise includes both accommodation and two meals, so you won’t be paying for either on Grand Bahama Island. The cruise takes place aboard the Carnival Celebration cruise so there are plenty of activities and things to do on board. The cruise offers a casino, nightclub, five different restaurants, and a spa. There is definitely no lack of fun attractions on board. The first day of the trip will be spent aboard the vessel enjoying these attractions. The second day the ship will dock around 8 am, so a full day of fun in Grand Bahama Island is ensured. The Lucaya Beach & Golf Resort will be the drop off point. The beach is one of the most beautiful on the island and has some great outdoor attractions, including a golf course and horseback riding. The ship returns to Miami at 11:30 am on the third day of the trip with you feeling tan and ready to take on the real world again.

Visiting the Bahamas is a great way to take a break from the fast paced nature of Miami. It’s definitely a different experience that you shouldn’t miss out on if you have the time to go. Whether it’s just for a day or a week, you’re bound to have fun in Grand Bahama Island.
